The lake of Sainte Croix is an artificial reserve, setting in waters in 1973, following the construction of the dam of Sainte Croix on the course of the Verdon. It is located between the departments of the Var and Alpes de Hautes Provence, at feet of the Gorges du Verdon.
This reserve is the second of Metropolitan France by its surface (approximately 2.200 ha) after the lake of Serre-Ponçon. The lake has an festival tourist centre and is very popular for the watery leisure (for renting canoes, kayaks, pedal boats, motor boats (electric only) and for sailing).
All around the lake you will find lodgings and camp-sites, but also a great number of beaches where you could gat some tan.
I like this place. It is not very far from my home, and I like to go there to relax, because nature is very beautiful there.
I always take several films and various cameras when I go to the lake. The landscape is variable and really very beautiful. I never forget to take my hammock, some balls for playing and something for picnic as well with me.
It is a place where I advise you to visit it from June to September to enjoy the good weather, but it is also very beautiful during the rest of the year.
