Plaza de las Vizcainas & Callejón de San Ignacio

It's just an Alley, in an old neighborhood (Vizcainas) in the historical downtown of Mexico City. It's not a touristy spot, 'cause the place it's on a decay state. These days some people are trying to bring new life to the place. San Ignacio Alley is an example of that, its walls has turned into a canvas for urban artists and the passage a laboratory for some artists that recycle trash into art.

If you visit Mexico City, take a walk from the nearest subway station (Bellas Artes), but try to be accompanied by someone that knows the zone, ‘cause it can be a little dangerous… so, if you are interested, drop some lines at my lomohome and I’ll be glad to serve as a guide.

I have walked by the side of this alley for years, but I didn’t know it existed. A few years ago, one of my photography teachers send me to that place, ‘cause we were planning a project about it (pitifully an exhibition that never became truth). It was love at first sight. Once in a wile I come back to the place to remember what does urban art means to me.
The Vizcainas Plaza it’s quite simple, but there are some strange shops and workshops around it, mainly dedicated to antiquities. You can find there too the Vizcainas theater.
