Paros is one of the biggest islands of the Cyclades. My friend and I spent most of our time in the island’s capital Parikia where we arrived with the ferry from Piraeus. It’s a nice town with cute little streets, all in the typical white and blue, and nice shops and restaurants.
Along the beach you can find the usual tourist restaurants but if you want to eat more exclusively you should move away from the beach into the town. There is especially one very amazing vegetarian restaurant (though for the meat-eaters there are also some chicken meals), the Happy Green Cows. It’s decorated creatively, including a cow shrine and the meals have names like Cow’s Orgasm. It’s definitely worth a visit and a good enough reason for me to go back to Paros. In Parikia the streets have no names, so just ask for it.
We also visited Naoussa, a town in the north of the island that is famous for its wine. You can reach it easily from Parikia by bus. On Paros’ sister island Antiparos there is a very nice cave that is said to have been visited by Lord Byron and several other famous people. Many visitors have left messages and signatures on the stones in the cave, some dating back to the 19th century.
