Bricks used to build Sansia old street at that time were transported from a faraway country, Japan. In addition, the planning of the old street as a whole gives out a deep sense of retro which you can see old buildings with delicately carved exterior along the old street.
However, there is not much left of the old buildings right now. At this moment, the only part of that Sansia old street well preserved is the part of Minquan St., and it’s the most intact preserved old street in Taiwan now.
Buildings of the Baroque style erect along Sansia old street. To walk on this street with history of hundred-years, it will enrich your mind and imagination. The old street used to give people a sense of kindness or a bit of pensive feelings. However, in these years, a major new plan of metropolis has fixed peoples` eyes on the problem of the old street.
Besides, there is an intense seesaw battle between local residents and the related department of the government, whether to demolish the old street or not.
