Köln Cathedral

I am not sure if I am correct, but a lot of natives call this THING not the cathedral, but simply the Dom. And this is not a simple cathedral nor a church it is a huge and massive and saint building, that captured my breath after the first eye-glance.

I am not sure if I am correct, but a lot of natives call this THING not the cathedral, but simply the Dom. And this is not a simple cathedral nor a church it is a huge and massive and saint building, that captured my breath after the first eye-glance.

And it’s not only my opinion – in 1996 the cathedral was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List of culturally important sites. It is so big, that I have a very friendly advice for you – you need Horizon or Fisheye to get every little detail of it into one single shot. Otherwise, you can only shoot the piece of it.

During my walk in Cologne I saw a lot of postcards, featuring photos from the Second World War. It appears that this cathedral suffered 14 (!!!!!) hits by aerial bombs during World War II but did not collapse – can you imagine that? This must be a saint place, cause otherwise it really would not be here with us in the 21 century, right? Anyway, you can go inside of this building and check out the huge interior.

One interesting thing – my fisheye suffered from an UFO inside the building, and all the shots came lined – also a piece of God himself? I do not know, but you can check it out as well. And of course, the last fact about it – the building process started even in 1248 and finished… only in 1880. Ah, damn those lazy workers…
