Greek Easter at Uncle Paul’s

Every since I can remember my family would always get together at my uncles house in Lindenhurst, NY. Perorations start a week or so in advanced. Uncle Paul orders the lamb and goat. Grandma starts preparing all the side dishes and colours the Easer Eggs. Finally on Easter Sunday Uncle Paul gets up nice and early to prepare the lamb and goat. Then he lights the BBQ.
The lamb and goat are then placed on the spit as you can see in the pictures, and cooked for hours. When the lamb is almost done, that’s then the fun begins. Most of the guest arrive and almost at once they all start picking at the lamb trying to get a piece of it, so by the time it’s cooked and ready for dinner everyone is pretty much full.
There’s no dress code, some come as you are. I recommend you bring an empty stomach and a lot of film. Shoot any thing and everything. Don’t forget the lamb’s head. Watch out for eggs, they will be smashed. I’m not giving away my secret on how to win the egg cracking game. Uncle Paul always cooks enough food to feed an army so you’re more than welcome to come by. You can’t miss it. It’s the house that looks like there’s a bonfire in the back, you can hear the Greek music and see the smoke from miles away.
