Dour Festival

Hello dear lomographers! My name is Kim and I come from Belgium. One of the smallest countries in Europe! Nevertheless we have lots of things to offer the inhabitants as well as the ones who decide to come by our wonderful country. Festivals are a part of the amazing entertainment we have. The biggest one is the Werchter festival in the Flammish part of Belgium, another one and much smaller is the Rhâââ Lovely festival. An entirely free Live Nations festival with an amazing program for those who are fond of alternative rock music (Explosion in the Sky, Migala, Matt Elliott performed there...).

The one I have decided to introduce you to is called the Dour festival and takes place every second week-end of July in Dour, a small town located next to the borderline of France-Belgium. This year it will take place from the 12th of July 2007 to the 15th of July 2007 and, be prepared, the 4days pass is only 75euros!!!! It is clearly an alternative and independent music festival that allows you to see again the ones you loved ( last year you could see Nada Surf, The Dandy Warhols, Archive…) and to discover the ones you’ll love ( I love Sarah, Islands, …). The Dour festival is composed of two open air stage and 4 smaller marquees and tries to diversify the music going from hip hop to electro, reggae, chill out, post punk, post rock, indie rock, new wave, drum’n’bass…

The atmosphere is peaceful, the sun is always shining and if it had to be a dress code, it would be: pants and bikini!!! The Dour festival welcomes 200bands and 134.000festival goers. You can, of course, sleep in the camping where you can still enjoy the party. People going to the Dour festival like it because of its open mind on the music world, of its qualified selection of bands and of its really good atmosphere where you can meet really nice persons. This year here is a selection of the bands I personally would like to see: Bright Eyes, Claps Your Hands and Say Yeah, Explosion in The Sky, Girls in Hawaii, Herman Düne, The Rapture and many more. Of course you’ll have plenty of opportunities to shoot with your Lomo thanks to the bright sun always present during the festival but also thanks to the amazing persons you’ll meet there, wearing very special clothes. Lots of wonderful moments you’ll live there will have to be taken through a Lomo lense to translate your very true emotions. I let you discover what is prepared for this year on
