Chinatown

Red&gold Chinese urban island in Italy. A must see. Go any day, anytime. Don't miss the supermarket! Ok fellow lomographers, this is my choice for lomohunting area. If you need a break from the harmonious and perfect and measured and all-in-its-place renaissance beauty, you need to come over here.

What you’ll find is a roaring thrilling mess of Chinese imagery somehow installed in a 1960s ex-industrial area (just a few yards away
from the city centre, to be honest!). The colonization has gone totally out of control! Me, as a little Italian bimba can immerse into the local Far East district, filled with weird plastic gadgets, insane neon lights and smell of spring rolls, with my loyal LC-A safely attached to my wrist and ready to fire. The best of the lot are the local Chinese people who are used to technology and photo shooting, so nobody’s gonna pay a dime of attention to you taking billions of pictures. You can easily spot a few romantic market-style windows arranged with some lazy rice bags. You can enter the mega-supermaket (located in an old factory building) and shoot entire roll of insane fluo candy wrappings, shiny metal plated biscuit boxes with geishas (!) and lotus flowers or lines and lines of red and green and golden obviously Chinese beer bottles. And don’t forget to be nice to people because they’re gonna smile and be kind to your Lomo-camera. Last, buy those eggs, rice and sugar biscuits with the happy kid on the package. They’re sold in every shop and will serve as a perfect snack for your Holy Dragon Day in Chinitaly.
