Warsaw University Library

Earth is our motherland, so we have to be good and not waste it. But today all we hear is pollution, greenhouse effect and so on... What to do? The answer is simple - even today, when technology is going straight forward, we can live without hurting the Fauna and Flora duo.

Earth is our motherland, so we have to be good and not waste it. But today all we hear is pollution, greenhouse effect and so on… What to do? The answer is simple – even today, when technology is going straight forward, we can live without hurting the Fauna and Flora duo.

Poland has got a very good example how to do it – it’s the park on the roof of the building. How come? Just take a look at the pictures of it – the new Building of Warsaw University Library is situated near Wysla River in the green area of the City – that’s why the whole building is green and it has a garden on the roof and the walls of the Library are covered by plants – inside and outside. It is one of the largest and most beautiful roof gardens in Europe with an area of more than 10,000 square meters, and plants covering 5,111 m2. The upper garden (the one on the roof) consists of plants in a layer of soil (around 30 cm deep) on the Library roof and you can walk there as well!!! Can you believe that? Well, I couldn’t, but this place, designed by Irena Bajerska (greetings to her, by the way) is so cool and relaxing, that it’s one of the most beautiful places inside of towns in the whole Europe. That’s why you can meet a lot of just married couples there, making their first “family” portraits there. It’s just very unusual for me to see a lot of digital cameras… J What cameras and films? Hm, take a negative film, cause your shots will be very green, so green, that others will guess it’s cross processed.
