Vicentina Aranha Hospital
written by dux_x on April 27th, 2008 (0 votes)

It used to be a geriatric hospital once, long-long-long time ago and was a place to treat breathing issues. By now it’s closed and abandoned. A very impressive place, located on very rich neighborhood in São José dos Campos. The Vicentina Aranha hospital started its activities in 1914 and closed its doors in 2004, after 90 years saving peoples life.

The old hospital has this great area with green gardens, strange constructions and a chapel, and it’s an amazing place to spend hours and hours felling the atmosphere and shooting like crazy the infinite possibilities and details all over the property.
Once an art foundation used to work there too, which taught art to the elderly interns. You can see the weird art pieces all over the gardens. Walking trough the old hospital (outside, because nobody is allowed to enter, it’s closed), you will find all sorts of strange stuff, that’s really impossible not to shoot lot of films with your camera. Visiting the spot is highly recommended.

How to get there: From Sao Paulo, get the Dutra highway to Rio de Janeiro, after 1 hour or 90 km you are in Sao Jose.
