Samos is a small island in Greece (length: about 43 km, width: about 19 km) but nevertheless full of contrasts … mountains where you can go hiking (but you should be in good condition), beautiful and lonely beaches, cultural highlights like antique ruins, deep forests, picturesque villages, cosy taverns but also lively cities, where you can go shopping or enjoy nightlife. People here are very friendly and open minded. It’s almost necessary to rent a car because public transport is non-lined. The streets are a challenge but great for adventurers like me!
Don’t forget to visit the cave of Pythagorus – by the way, he is born on Samos – where Pythagorus hided before his exile. But do this while the day, I was too late for this impressing tour and couldn’t see anything inside the dark cave (not even the flash of my LC-A discovered anything for me!). The island is full of straying cats and dogs. I had one special cat for the time I spent here. She came every day to my apartment to get something to eat and drink and caress. For me, the most impressing thing on the island was the sunset I once watched. I found a special place in a silent and lonely bay where I enjoyed this spectacular event. Indescribable! So enjoy yourself!
