This night market has something for everyone. Open from 7 pm to midnight on Friday, Saturday and Sundays from May to October. There are lots of stalls/vendors with gadgets, clothing, flowers, Korean stationary (my favorite is Afro Ken), cell phones & accessories, traditional Asian products, lucky bamboo… and on… and on… Bring plenty of cash!!! Stuff is cheap but most don’t take credit cards.
Events are also on every night with performers doing martial arts displays, karaoke, dancers, bands, talent shows, model search, fashion show, and match-maker games. Check the schedule on the website before you go. Sometimes there are rides and amusements too. The food court area is a great place to sample a wide variety of Asian foods, Korean omelets, Japanese octopus balls (not what you might think! It’s a piece of octopus wrapped in a lump of batter/dumpling) which is very good but very hot (not spicy). Also, Bubble Tea, funky desserts like UFO ice flake, chocolate fountains…. I can’t wait for opening night May 19 (2007).
It’s easy to get there by bus from all over Vancouver; on the website they have excellent information. Parking is also easy if you want to drive, the local shops are usually closed by 7 pm so organized parking is available for a flat fee of $2.
