Park Güell

Park Güell is definitely one of the highlights of Barcelona. Constructed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi back in the years 1900-1914, this park offers you a small peak into the mind of Gaudi and what inspires his art. You will see how he moulded and shaped everything from benches to ceilings and walls in the form of nature…various animals, leaves and waves. As you enter the park (which is enormous), you are entranced by all the gorgeous mosaic tiles that cover nearly EVERYTHING, including the famous dragon which seems to be guarding the park.

I tell you, I instantly got goose-bumps. I then went on to spend the afternoon lazing on the terrace which also has lovely views of the city and nearly fell asleep basking in the sun, sitting on the mosaic tiled seats (which are in the shape of a sea serpent) that snake across the whole expanse of the terrace. Stunning is the only word that comes to mind at the moment. Needless to say, there is massive Lomo possibility here. I went through 3 rolls of film with no problem at all. :) Unfortunately, getting to Park Güell is a bit of a trip. I suggest taking a taxi (which costs about 12 euros from Placa de Catalunya) or taking metro stop Lesseps and walking mostly uphill for around 25 minutes. Tiring but worth it!
