Metro Palais Royal 'Kiosque des Noctambules'

This unique new metro entrance situated on the square Colette was built and inaugurated in 2000 for the centenary of the Paris subway. It was realesed and supervised by the artist Jean-Michel Othoniel in a very controversial style.
This contemporary work of art aroused so many comments as the style ‘Art Deco’ of Hector Guimard at their time. Both domes of the ‘kiosque des Noctambules’ (one representing the day, the other representing the night), are made of glass pearls of Murano (by Salviati) coloured and threaded on a structure of aluminum, make an unexpected and original work (fairground art, child’s rattle or baroque dream?) within the very classic environment of the square Colette in front of The Comedie Francaise and famous columns of Buren. Definitely a location made for your Lomo camera!
