Merchant City

Merchant City in the centre of Glasgow has some excellent buildings, bars,
restaurants and more recently some really cool urban art to shoot as a
result of new building work. I am doing my major project at college on
fashion photography on location and found that Merchant City was perfect.
It has an excellent mix of really nice buildings and rough alleyways which
is perfect for both a fashion shoot and generally good lomographs and
hipshot. The traffic is generally quieter too so it is possible to stand
in the middle of the road to grab a pic without risk of being hit by a car.
Watch out for the taxis though, they won’t stop for anyone.
Just around the corner from the urban art is a cobbled street which can look amazing just after the rain or any weather for that matter. On the other block there is a narrow street with old doorways with tons of “menchies” or graffiti tags to the non wedgie. There is also an alleyway that has a disused pub and some other empty buildings which can look fantastic.
