Lesvos

Lesvos is the 3rd biggest island of Greece and located in the Aegean Sea very near to Turkey (approx. 16 km). We went to Lesvos on a 12-hour-ferry trip from Piraeus and arrived at the island’s capital Mytilini on the eastern coast.
The bus to our final destination Skala Eressou, a beautiful town on the south-western coast goes only once a day so we spent some hours in the capital, mostly strolling around or sitting in one of the many chic bars because we were too tired to do anything useful (Sleeping on a ferry is not very easy. If you don’t want to pay the higher price for a cabin you should bring a pillow and a blanket and be prepared to sleep on the floor).
The bus trip to Skala Eressou was a great way to get motion-sick because the island consists of several mountains, it goes up and down and one curve follows another. Skala Eressou is a beautiful small town with a nice beach and lots of restaurants and bars on stakes along the beach. On the eastern part of the town there is a cute little port and on the way there you can see several sculptures.
