Kent Falls

Kent Falls is way on up in the corner of New England, basically there are a bunch of waterfalls there but also some picnicky fun. It originally was all set up for people when the new deal sent teenagers under the CCC program to fix it all up in the 30s. It kind of means a bunch to my family because my grandfather was in the CCC and my other grandfather went to the falls growing up, last time I went, I went with grandma and grandpa as well as my parents and nieces.
The old ones in my family have only a few years left of walking and this may be the last trip to the falls that I ever get to take with them, beautiful and tearfully joyous. I brought a bunch of cameras, double exposed some, threw in some slide film and captured grandma and grandpa like it was going out of style. I suggest you go there early in the am, hike to the top of the falls (it is paved now with steps, easy trip) and watch the sun change the light. If you are adventurous go on into the water with the little kids and new American citizens.
The smell from the charcoal grills is fantastic in summer. The website here has all the directions and the prices and whatnot, the drive is really beautiful out that way as well, lots of hilly green open cow-spotted fields and if you are lucky you may even catch a New York City celebrity like the lady from the Devil Wears Prada hanging out in her “country house” up by the falls, ya never know.
