Kaliningrad

Have you been in Russia? If yes (the main part of it with St. Peter or Moscow), then try Kaliningrad Oblast, or Kaliningrad Area and especially the main town itself. It is situated near the Poland and Lithuania and still has got a pure sense of USSR. Imagine that there are still numbers on the shops, like magazine No.34 in one village and magazine No.35 in the next village just 3 kilometers away.

If you see the green stoplight, that let’s you walk along the zebra, be careful – if you see dark cars like BMW or Mercedes, which are driven by big and bald “goodguys”, let them go. The police (milicya) are taking control on every place in the town, but if the weather is too hot, they probably will be drinking cold beer in the tree shadows in the park. Old Russian cars, which are not like “museum things”, but more than very everyday-thing … Real meal! Awesome – you get real Russian food for little pennies, but remember not to think about the quality. And one more thing – Kaliningrad is a seaport, so you will be shocked when you will see the real sea-rockets on the ground just before your eyes and lots of soldiers checking out the submarine in the CENTER of the TOWN! Please, do not think that I am stupid – go there and check it out. Friendly advice – try not to be visible. Try to act like natives, because if you don’t – you will feel like a museum object in front of the viewers…
