Hot Air Balloon Festival

I still remember when I first encountered these giant flying balloons that carry baskets underneath. I never knew what they were until my brother told me they are called hot air balloons. Hot air compressed inside the balloon makes it float like giant picnic baskets soaring through the garden.

I still remember when I first encountered these giant flying balloons that carry baskets underneath. I never knew what they were until my brother told me they are called hot air balloons. Hot air compressed inside the balloon makes it float like giant picnic baskets soaring through the garden.

Watching these balloons beside the former president of the republic (Pres. Fidel V. Ramos), I was mesmerized with the floating baskets and marvelled on this great person beside me. Eventually I found out that he owns one of the balloons in fiesta.

Four to six years after, the festivities bloomed into the popular Hot Air Balloon Festival it is now known. Celebrated every year at Clark Field (former base of the Americans during the world war), Pampanga, Philippines, the festival tips off with the Cessna planes gracing the fly zone upon which the Philippine marines skydive bannering the national flag. This is followed by the guests of honour, the colourful balloons coming from all parts of the world. The festival continues until the break of dawn when the hot air balloons fire up their boosters creating vibrant colours in the field. With that said, Holgas, LC-As, Fisheyes, and all unite to capture beauty and colour in this weeklong celebration filled with activities and surprises. Don’t forget to inquire about the free ride and capture even more extraordinary shots 3,000 feet above!
