I have written so many Lomolocation stories about Crete island, that I can feel like living there – it clearly became my second home after only a 7-days relaxing holidays. But wait – I have told you so many interesting places to see, but forgot to mention the best possible place to live in this island. That’s why I have prepared this story about a little town of Hersonissos.
Hersonissos is located just 25 km east of Iraklion (the capital of Crete island), and is the most cosmopolitan city in Crete. One more thing – it is just on the main road, which can lead you to any destination you want. Hersonissos is world known for its beautiful and scenic beaches and exciting night life, although there is much more to be seen in this historical and beautiful town – lots of little souvenir shops, as well as native Greek taverns, where you can taste national food (I advice you to take a “Greek plate” dish, as it has a little of everything).
It has got a lot of different hotels – from small ones, which are built by one family, or big ones, which have their own little country inside the Hotel zone. For example, The Beach hotel is very popular among German tourists, so it has got several restaurants, cafes, even a shop, where the shop assistant is German. Would you like some horse riding? Or maybe check out the mysterious aqua life in the AquaWorld museum? Mountain biking? Golfing? Everything is here, and of course, millions of car rentals this is how you can see every little piece of Crete island from this little town…
