The fish out of the sea. As you reach the Bilbao Guggenheim, your heart goes faster and you get a shiver down your spine. You are just in front of the biggest fish out of the sea! The building was finished 10 years ago, designed by Frank O. Gehry. People from Bilbao, at first, felt strange with its presence, but easily get used to it.
The building is made of limestone blocks, titanium and glass, perfectly combined. There are thousands and thousands points of view, and each view of the building is completely different from any other. The building is located along Nervion River, and pierced through by an existing bridge. The best way to approach it is by Iparraguirre street, as it leads you to the main entrance. Just there, a big dog welcomes you, dressed in seasonal flowers. Once there, the only way of watching the big museum is walk around it, even cross the river and observe it from the other side.
Every time I visit the museum I can’t help going to the lowest floor to walk around, and inside, the amazing sculptures. The exhibitions are always surprising.
If you want one more advice, don’t forget to get lunch in the restaurant: the food is at the same level with the museum.
