There is just something about riding a funicular that brings out the child in me. I get all giddy with excitement as the slanted tram travels up a very steep slope normally with fantastic views along the way. This particular funicular was in Barcelona and is one of the two ways you can get up to Mt. Tibidabo (aside from car/bus-boring!) and is over 100 years old and is the first of its kind in all of Spain!

There are lots of Lomographic opportunities as the tram makes its way up or down…the views and people’s expressions as their tummy does flip flops or if they get stricken with vertigo (me!) is always funny. You can reach the funicular by bus or blue tram/tramvia blau (another fantastic vehicle but closed on weekends) from FGC train stop Avinguda del Tibidabo which only takes approx 15-20mins from city centre. Return tickets on funicular normally cost 3euros/person.
