In July, every year, São José dos Campos has a great outdoor festival for celebrating the city’s birthday. This great festivity takes place in the best park of the city: Roberto Burle Marx Park. With lots of people coming from every corner of São José dos Campos, the big park becomes crowded from the morning till the end of afternoon on the weekend. People come because of big concerts and the amazing threes that surround the entire park.

If you like music, you got a lot of music with two days with a great mix of classical, folk and pop music (there’s something for any taste). If you like nature, the park is for you, with this 516.000 square meters covered with trees, lakes, trails and little animals. There’s a lot of stuff to lomograph, because it’s joined music, nature, more music, more nature and, of course, more people. When I was there last time I heard for the first time one of greatest Brazilian musical groups, “A Banda de Pífanos de Caruaru”, and had the privilege to shoot some Holgas on the stage (meant only for VIP, folks). It is a group very talented and old men that play a folkloric instrument called “Pífano”, a small flute made of wood from the north of Brazil. Definitely, one of the most intense experiences I ever had with music. If you could, come to Brazil to hear these men playing. And come to São José dos Campos to experience this festival in July, every year.
