Carnival In The Mountains

Everyone on this planet know the Brazilian carnivals. Everyone have heard about the Rio de Janeiro with that stuff like “the greatest show on Earth”, and other bla bla bla. Well, guys, you need to know the Brazilian carnival like I know: diving into the countryside and discovering the real experience on these old and traditional streets in these traditional little Brazilian cities.
A good place to start the journey is Cunha, a beautiful city in the mountains. The city is full of green fields, fresh air and good people (I think I already said that sometime ago, but it’s great for lomography). That’s a perfect place to start because the weather: not hot like other tropical cities (here in Brazil in the mountains we had cold, do you believe it? We have cold weather in the south, but it is far, far away from my house).
In small cities we had no violence (well, not much), we had friendly people, we had old traditions, we had old carnival music (known as marchinhas) and the best reason is: it’s absolutely free. Yes, my friends, small town carnival is on the streets, under the sky full of stars or under the sun, etc, etc, etc. All you need is a good pair of snickers, some change for the beer and a good carnival spirit (jump, run, dance, laugh, non-stop, all day, all night). Oh, yes, you need a lot of films, because all these things together are a perfect lomo-tropical-storm, with movement, lights, strange and funny people, just perfect for capture on film the very essence of Brazilian carnival.
