Avignon’s TGV Station

French people are very proud of the French high speed train, the TGV.
The LGV line connects Paris with the South and Southeast of France, serving Lyon, Valence, Avignon, Aix en Provence and Marseille. The new TGV station of Avignon is one of the 3 new stations built in 2001. They are not located in the center of towns, but a few kilometers, so you need to take the shuttle or a taxi.
The Avignon’s station has been praised as one of the most remarkable stations of the network. It has been compared to a cathedral: its vaulted shell extends over 360 meters, the equivalent of two TGVs without the power units. The north side is totally glazed, though the south side is protected from the heat. Come and see!
Avignon is 2h 40 minutes from Paris now, and if you buy your ticket in advance, it’s not so expensive.
