Tell us something about yourself. What are your main interests?
I’m an audio-visual media designer. I basically do anything from planning a production, doing camera works, and post-production. I like collecting vintage sunglasses and other vintage stuff. I also collect vinyls with good, old funky music. I love watching trash and b-movies, traveling, and going to concerts.
Tell us something about your LomoHome’s name. Why did you decide to have that username?
I got my LomoHome name from one of my favorite Funkadelic songs.
This name just fits me the best. To be different and stand out no matter what others say or think has always been my motto. This crazy, flashy, and colorful funk music is exactly my style.
If I can pick a different name, I would choose Supersonic Man, one of my favorite B-Movie Superheros.
Share your most memorable experience in the Lomographic Community.
Definitely, it’s the LomoWeekend last summer in Kassel. Meeting all the other LomoFreaks, whose pictures I love so much, in person was very exciting. We had a lot of fun hanging around, shooting tons of pictures, and drinking beer. Also, I learned to develop my own negatives.
Big thanks to frauspatzi, faaabii, thegrump, trash-gordon-from-outer-space and stellastellar for putting so much love and time in this fantastic LomoWeekend! Hopefully, we can do this every year.
Have you actually met people in the Community that you now consider as close friends? If yes, name at least one of them.
From time to time, the lovely hafenperle and I do lomowalks together and hunt for cameras at flea markets. We also share tips on photography and talk about other things in our lives. We live in the same city so it’s great to have a photo buddy and a close friend.
There are so so many other people in the community that I have met and became friends with such as pearlgirl77, marcel2cv, earlybird, dopa, thejomi, faaabii, zonderbar frauspatzi, stellastellar, herzkoenigin, brommi, lostlittlekid, suizidekid, vivie, roxyvonschlotterstein, lienchen, mapix, zeester, imbaaa and many more.
Do you think you’ll still be taking lomographs in the next five years? Why?
As long as I can still hold a camera in my hands and I can still buy and develop film, I will do lomography! I love seeing the world through a viewfinder especially with my Rolleiflex and my Pentacon Six TL! It’s an amazing feeling to celebrate the whole ritual of analogue shooting – from measuring the light, manually adjusting the aperture and exposure time, playing around with the focus to finally pushing down the shutter button and hearing the noise of the camera while its taking the picture. It’s pure joy and happiness. Also, I love doing it quick and dirty with my LC-A.
What is your favorite lomo camera and why? Do you have any memorable experiences using this camera?
My favorite analogue camera is my Pentacon Six TL but my favorite lomo camera is the Diana F+. You can explore so many possibilities with this piece of plastic and it’s absolutely amazing.
After shooting "lomos“ with different iPhone Apps, my first analogue lomowalk with the Diana F+ became memorable for me. When they see me holding this toy cam, people with expensive DSLRs make funny faces and it’s absolutely priceless. Now, I have 12 Dianas: Diana F+, Multi Pinhole, and 60’s Dianas and clones including the super rare Diana Water Splash Camera. You can easily get in touch with other people when you shoot using a lomo camera.
Please share with us your favorite Lomographic shot and explain why you love that particular image.
This picture brings back so many great memories. I spent a weekend in Paris with my girlfriend where we had a fantastic time running around the city and getting excited at everything we see. During our first day in Paris, we took a break and relaxed at the Louvre Pyramid and I thought this was a perfect place to test my new multicolor filter. I love how the colors of the filter matched with the Louvre Pyramid and the sky.
Please share a Lomograph you wish you had taken and explain why.
I love this photo by fadjaradiputra called MX City! The double exposure composition is simply perfect. It’s so beautiful and feels like the guy is yearning as he looks over the top of the city. As I said in my photo comment, it’s a lomographic masterpiece!
What’s the best Lomographic or photography advice you think you have given?
Keep your inner freak alive and free your mind from any limits.
If there’s one song or movie that best describes your lomo life, which one is it and why?
The Mothership Connection by Parliament
My camera is my mothership that brings me into another dimension of colorful and funky pictures. I love this song and the whole Parliament, Funkadelic, George Clinton, and Bootsy Collins music. I can listen to them forever.
Gettin’ down in 3-d, light year groovin’
I’m a huge fan of 3D movies and now i have a 3D photo camera.
If you hear any noise, it’s just me and the boys
It’s me who loves the sound my analogue cameras make when taking pictures. Hell yeah, this song describes my lomo life the best!
Is there any advice you can give to new analogue shooters?
Be spontaneous, crazy, creative and do everything you want with your camera. Experiment with different cameras, films, and filters and always be prepared to capture the perfect moment. The only limits are the ones in your head! And when you can, develop your negatives at home. It’s much easier than I ever thought.
