Name: Pete Yeung
Location: Hong Kong
Camera: Canon 5D Mark II

Hello Pete, please introduce yourself.

I work at a music company and I am in charge of the release and promotion of the music news on new media. I enjoy using photos to record my life and keep the moments of wonderful things and people.

How did you learn about the new Lomography Petzval Lens?

I saw the information related to the Petzval project on Kickstarter. After watching the introductory video":https://vimeo.com/70744505 , my wife and I decided to buy it so as to support this project.

I heard that you had something to do with the Petzval Lens years ago, could you share with us more?

As my wife and I are fond of taking photos very much, when we tied the knot in 2012, we had the honor to invite photographic artist Bobby Sham to take wedding photos for us using outsole photography. The land camera Bobby used on that day had a venerable brass lens. The photos were simply gorgeous – shallow depth of field and impressive bokeh. Hence, when I saw the sample photos":http://shop.lomography.com/hk/lenses/brass-petzval-canon-mount taken with Petzval Lens, my mind instantly reminded me of the photos Bobby took and this encouraged me to yearn for the Petzval Lens even more.

What was your impression of the Petzval Lens when you first got it?

When I held it in hands the first time, I immediately felt the “weight and power” of the lens. After using it, I deem this MF (Manual Focus) lens is actually user-friendly and easier to control than I expect.

What do you like most about the Petzval Lens?

My favorite part is certainly the gorgeous swirly bokeh. Contrary to the mainstream trends dominated by HD photography these days, I prefer photos with soft tones.

Any advice for people who are interested in or have already bought Petzval Lens?

I got used to using AF (Automatic Focus), so it does not get really accurate when I use MF (Manual Focus) via View Finder. However, by using the Live View to zoom in, it makes a difference on the focusing problem. If you want to take photos with beautiful bokeh, the distance between the subject and background should be at least 3 miles. Moreover, better find some backgrounds with sharp and different colors.

Where do you like to bring your Petzval Lens and take photos the most?

I will be traveling to Paris, London and Brighton I hope to bring some satisfying photos back to Hong Kong.

Thank you. We look forward to seeing your work very soon!
