Why is the Holga 120N your Weapon of Choice?

The Holga 120N is my Weapon of Choice because it produces exactly what I think is the perfect photo. I love photos in square format and the vignetting this camera gives is great. I have two Holgas, one in baby blue and another one in pink. A plastic lens, two different aperture settings, a shutter speed of 1/100 sec – these are all I need.

Any memorable experiences you’ve had while using the Holga 120N?

I had to get used to its viewfinder. It doesn’t really show what’s on the photo but it’s completely okay!

When using the Holga 120N, what are you favorite subjects to photograph and why?

I bought a set of close-up lenses for my Holga and they are so cool! I’m so much into flowers and little things in general and taking close-ups with the Holga is fantastic. It’s sometimes hard to “focus” and it’s not always easy to estimate the light conditions. But, the more I practice, the more I learn about shooting with this cool camera.

The Holga is also the perfect travel companion. It’s great for architecture, for beach shots, for all subjects! When I go to see a new place, I always have my Holga with me. It’s always ready to shoot and I can’t say the same for other cameras!

Would you recommend the Holga 120N to other Lomographers? If yes, to whom do you have in mind?

I think anyone would love this camera. If you’re used to shooting with a camera that has a light meter and auto focus, you’d probably have a hard time with the first rolls of film in your Holga. But investing in this cool toy is worth every cent and every minute of your precious time. I love my Holgas!

Any tips or tricks with using the Holga 120N?

I always got one Holga ready in my bag. You’ll never know what’s gonna happen! It’s not too big and it isn’t heavy at all. And even if I drop it, it won’t break, I guess. If the light conditions are bad and my Holga is loaded with a slow film, I can easily do multiple exposures or shoot in bulb mode which is really cool!

Your Holga flower close-ups are so memorable. I've enjoyed seeing so many of them over the past few years, and hope you continue to shoot them - especially daisies. I think of you as the Daisey Master <3
