Now here's a fascinating series of famous firsts - see photos of now-iconic filmmakers hard at work on the set of their first ever films right after the cut!
Stanley Kubrick at the set of “Fear and Desire,” 1953
Even the greatest individual in the world was once a rookie, and perhaps you’d find this photo series we’ve stumbled upon on Flavorwire interesting and maybe even a little inspirational. Here, we get a glimpse of filmmakers such as George Lucas, Stanley Kubrick, Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, David Lynch, and Roman Polanski working at the sets of their respective debut films!
From top: George Lucas (“THX 1138,” 1971), Martin Scorsese (“Who’s That Knocking at My Door,” 1967), Quentin Tarantino (“Reservoir Dogs,” 1992), David Lynch (“Eraserhead,” 1977), Tim Burton (“Pee-wee’s Big Adventure,” 1985), Wes Anderson (“Bottle Rocket,” 1996), Jean-Luc Godard (“Breathless,” 1960), Sofia Coppola (“The Virgin Suicides,” 1999), Roman Polanski (“Knife in the Water,” 1962), and Steven Spielberg (“The Sugarland Express,” 1974).
It’s a bit surreal seeing this now considering that they have become among the industry’s most influential figures, isn’t it?
