Kino Stories: ‘Going South’ by stouf

Let’s join our fellow lomographer stouf in his trip to Antarctica through this amazing short film!

Antarctica is one of the places in the world that not many people can just travel to. However, thanks to stouf, we here in the community can get a glimpse of the beauty of the icy frontier through his five-minute-long short “Going South” (a full account of his trip may be read on the magazine here!). Shot in January 2012 while on the way from Hobart to Commonwealth Bay aboard the Aurora Australis, stouf used a LomoKino equipped with a power-winder and a total of 16 rolls of film which he processed himself. It’s not everyday that anyone shoots the awesome, one-of-a-kind views of Antarctica, that’s why we’re putting stouf’s work on the spotlight. Also: penguins!

Here in the Lomography magazine we often venture to the community’s Movies section, where we’re able to stumble upon shorts that do not only depict interesting storylines but are also well-executed. The new Kino Stories series aims to put the well-deserved spotlight on these gems, so keep those creative juices flowing and tell us your story! Who knows, you just might get featured in an upcoming installment!
