A nearly-naked Salvador Dali strikes up a conversation with little Juan Figeuras while lying on a rock formation by the beach

I could only imagine how extremely distracting this situation must have been, with Dali only being clad in a pair of sandals, a necklace, and… a starfish.

This candid photo was taken by Charles Hewitt in 1955 near Dali’s home in the town of Cadaques, Spain. Now, the boy here, Juan, turned out to be someone who the Dalis were reportedly close to. They supposedly treat Juan much like an adopted son, and Dali’s Christ on his painting Asummpta Corpuscularia Lapislazulina (1952) was said to have been modeled after the boy!
