Impressive Landscapes Painted on Insects and Other Small Objects by Hasan Kale

Artist Hasan Kale specializes in miniature art, and if that doesn't sound amazing enough, wait ‘til you see the kind of items that serve as canvasses for his amazing work.

When we say Turkish artist Kale paints on everything, we mean it literally – well, almost. With a keen eye, he paints incredible landscapes, scenery, and even portraits on every small object that he can get his hands on. The list includes, but is certainly not limited to, olives, sugar cubes, grapes, cacti spikes, coffee beans, seeds, pins, plants, teeth, rice grains, the heads of matchsticks, and insects.

You read that right: Hasan also paints detailed artwork directly on butterflies and other winged insects.

Hasan reportedly started this project back in the 1980s, with each scene inspired by and serving as a tribute to his native city of Istanbul.
