Something New in 2014: Challenging Myself with 120 Film

It has been 2 years since the first time I fell in love with Lomography, but I still feel something is missing. Oh crap! I'm lacking the experience of using 120 film!

It took me 2 years to realize how awesome 120 film is. I used to think why I should waste money on film that only gives you 12 or 16 shots each roll. Everybody told me how good the quality 120 film gives, but I always insisted that 35mm or 110mm films are good too.

I once tried a roll of 120 with my friend’s Holga. The result was pretty nice, but I still felt that I didn’t need 120 film; moreover, I didn’t have any camera that uses the film format.

I began to change my mind after three moments in 2013.

One day, adi_totp invited me for a lomowalk, like we usually do. But, it turned out unusual because that day, he only brought medium format cameras! He brought a premium Lomography camera, the Lubitel 166+, and the dynamic duo of medium format cameras, the Diana F+ and Holga. He let me take a couple of shots with his camera, and I just couldn’t help but fall in love with them! But, I was still too stubborn to admit that I wanted a 120 camera.

The second moment was when ping-junior showed me his beloved Lomography Belair X 6-12 Jetsetter! He brought his Belair with him when we went for a lunch. He looks cool with his Belair, strapped on his shoulder, and he also takes awesome photos with it. I wanted to have a Belair, too! But again, I thought it wasn’t my time yet to have a 120 camera.

The ultimate 120 camera temptation was when meerly came to my city. She brought a Diana F+ with the Premium Glass Lens! She took a picture of me and I was really amazed with the result! It was sharp but also dreamy at the same time. I couldn’t hold myself back anymore, and last month I finally bought my own Diana F+. Yay!

So, I guess 2014 will be a big journey for me and my new 120 camera. I am really excited to face 2014 with my Diana F+ beside me!

Happy New Year, my LomoFriends!

The Diana F+ is a new twist on the ‘60s classic cult camera. Famous for its dreamy and soft-focused images, the Diana F+ is now packed with extra features such as panorama and pinhole capabilities. Available in our Online Shop.
