How Colorsplash Gels are Made

Ever wonder how those funky colored gels in your Colorsplash Flash were made? Have a look at this video that explains the whole process!

You’d think that lighting gels nowadays would employ high-tech manufacturing methods, but they are surprisingly sticking with their analogue roots. In this video from 2009, Lee Filters shares how their gels are made. It really is surprising how they opt to do things old-school instead of just printing the gels. For example, the thickness of the gel dye is measured not by digital readings, but by timing how long it drains through a hole in a metal cup. Interesting! Watch the video below for more information regarding lighting gel manufacturing!
