Christmas is just round the corner, so better hurry up and write a letter to Mr. Santa Claus. Address: North Pole, where the magic happens. Read my letter to Santa after the jump!
Hey Santa, long time no see!
A lot has changed since last year. I finished high school and had to move miles and hours away from home and my family. The things that changed as a consequence of this are countless, but, as a lomographer, one of the things I mostly miss is the quick developing of my films.
In my hometown, I used to go to a very small photography lab, and then, the next day I would already have my negatives for a fair price (€2). When I came here, I became desperate; bigger city meant higher prices. EVERY photographer I talked to told me that the minimum price to develop a roll of film is €6-7, which, for a student is a very high price, given that it’s only for developing. The printing is excluded.
After a long search, I finally found a supermarket connected with a lab which develops at €2. Thing is, this lab develops my films in a terrible way, given that they get a large amount of films. They do everything mechanically and the results are faded colors, overexposed prints, etc.
So, dearest Santa, what I ask you for this Christmas is at least a black and white developing kit, in order for me to save my money and enjoy all the analogue experience. I’ve always dreamed about starting to develop on my own my negatives and I think that the time is near; it just needs a little sparkling Christmas-y yuletide magic from you!
Thank you in advance,
What about you? Do you develop your films at home? What do you want from Mr. Santa Claus this Christmas?
