Lomographic Milestones: Shooting with My Dream Cameras

Among my Lomographic milestones was shooting with my dream cameras. Read on to find out what it was like for me to shoot with the cameras I’ve wanted for so long!

When I first got into Lomography, I was content with shooting with my Diana F+ and my La Sardina. I totally adored how photographs taken with the LC-A looked—the contrast, saturation, vignettes and even the sharpness really got me. But I didn’t think of getting one, because a brand new LC-A+ would cost me $250 (exclusive of taxes) and my high school allowance just wouldn’t allow me to purchase.

Fast forward to a few months ago, I discovered that you can still get the vintage, USSR-made LC-As on the internet for bargain prices. I saw one going for 40 GBP. I told myself that it would be my chance, so I snatched the deal.

After a month of waiting, it arrived in the mail and I finally got to shoot with my dream camera. I took it with me everywhere I went, and shot everything I saw. Upon getting my first rolls back, I was even happier than I was when I got my first ones from my first camera.

Here are some shots from my first few rolls.

Sometime after, I yearned for more. I wanted something wider—and that means the LC-Wide. However, the LC-Wide goes for $389 brand new and it was just something I couldn’t easily afford. Then on LSI’s anniversary, which happened to be my first anniversary of shooting analogue, there was a promo that slashes 30% off the LC-Wide. Since I’ve been saving up piggies, I was able to get one for such an unbelievable price!

The moment I peeked through the viewfinder, everything was so wide!

These two cameras are my current (and probably forever) favorites. The first time I’ve shot with them absolutely felt like a dream.

Right now, there are a lot of cameras that I want to own such as the Horizon Perfekt and the Belair, but I’m glad I already have my ultimate dream cameras sitting right on my shelf.
