Boris Karloff Still in Full Frankenstein Costume Cuts His Birthday Cake

Belated happy birthday, Boris Karloff!

Since this photo was said to have been shot on Boris Karloff’s birthday celebration on the set of the horror film “Son of Frankenstein,” we’ll go ahead and peg the date it was taken on or around November 23, 1938 (Karloff’s 51st birthday), as the film in question was released on January 13, 1939. With Karloff here were co-stars Basil Rathbone and Bela Lugosi.

In addition, it was also around Karloff’s birthday that his daughter Sara was born, with reports claiming that he rushed straight to the hospital from the set – still in full make-up and costume! We can only hope the excited father didn’t frighten anyone on his way there!

All information in this article were sourced from Boris Karloff on IMDB and the Wikipedia pages on Boris Karloff and Son of Frankenstein.
