A Shirtless Pablo Picasso Dons a Minotaur Mask and Strikes a Pose at the Beach

Would you ever have guessed that this was the renowned Spanish artist in this candid photo have we not told you beforehand?

The photo above was taken at Golfe-Juan in the French Riviera in 1968 by LIFE magazine staff photographer Gjon Mili. It was during this visit when Mili introduced lightpainting and photography to Picasso. One of the artist’s most popular photographs that shows him drawing a centaur in the air was actually taken by Mili!
