Miami 'Hoodlum' Finds Salvation Photographing Ghetto Life

To start off your week right, here's a light and inspiring story about one man and his less than ideal road to discovering the wonders of photography!

Trying to get out of the ghetto, out of a culture of poverty and crime, is not the simplest thing in the world to do. Jovan ‘Bonna’ Lamb of Miami, Florida grew up in Overtown, which is as ghetto as you can get. In his youth, he was well on his way into becoming a bonafide thug up until the moment that a camera found its way into his hands through… criminal activity.

Since then, he’s become the town’s official photographer, covering everything from a baby shower, to a political rally, to even a wake. Here’s to turning over a new leaf through the magic of photography!
