Today in History: (1969) No Doubt Lead Singer Gwen Stefani was born

Bleach blonde hair, deep red lips with amazing vocals to match, No Doubt’s charismatic singer Gwen Stefani is celebrating her birthday today.

Ska-rock band No Doubt has definitely come a long way since their earlier days of playing in their hometown of Anaheim, California. The band started with the mutual love for British New Wave and Ska-rock by founding members Stefani, guitarist Tom Dumont, bassist Tony Kanal, and drummer Adrian Young. And it has been a whirlwind ever since.

Stefani rose to fame with her energetic performances and signature style on or off stage. The No Doubt lead singer mesmerized millions with their hit song Don’t Speak that skyrocketed into the hit charts and making their 1995 album Tragic Kingdom such a commercial and critical success. Stefani’s brand of music only soared from there on with her solo career and hit singles like Hollaback Girl and The Sweet Escape.

Her vocal range and showmanship on stage drew more fans all around the globe. Stefani stated that her influence was the sex appeal and charisma of music great Debbie Harry of The Blondes, reflecting similarities in music style and fashion.

No Doubt’s hiatus benefited Stefani as she poured on her energy on other ventures. Her success in music has been partnered by the successful release of her clothing line L.A.M.B. which drew inspiration from Japanese Harajuku girl fashion. This was also the influence for some of her songs in her 2004 album Love. Angel. Music. Baby.
