The Secret Notes of a True Dark Room Master

Today we want to share with you the wonderful notes made by someone who has a deep knowledge of the art of the dark room: the person in charge of the analogue development at Magnum Photos in NYC. How about that!

Magnum Photos shows us the notes their expert in development, Pablo Inirio, makes to develop amazing photos.

On his notes, one can see how he analyses every single detail on the first copy to make photos grow so that we can enjoy them. It is amazing to see how meticulous his notes are and how great the results are.

Although Magnum Photos has started to digitalise its archive, Inirio is not tempted to make such change. “Digital copies have their own appearance. The are ok, but those in fibre are richer and have more depth”, he said. He believes that analogue copies will always be with us. As he said, at the end of the day, “ people keep making daguerrotypes.”

Here we can see Pablo working in the lab:
