Editor Photoseries: Elite Rakes

We keep asking you guys to share the stories behind your photos, so we felt that we needed to do the same as well. It's only fair, right? Without further ado, let's get the Editor Photoseries started!

This shot is memorable to me because it was one of the first photos I took that made me crack a really big smile. Like most Lomographer’s shots, we can never really expect what will happen and what will turn out. Sure, some films and cameras offer a little degree of certainty in its output, but certain circumstances often beyond our control completely change the result of our shots, sometimes (and hopefully) for the better.

Consider this shot of neatly arranged pile of rakes. If this was taken using an ordinary digital camera, it wouldn’t really stand out. At best, it’ll be meh. But the crazy Elitechrome color shift wasn’t something I was expecting. Nor was the LC-A vignette part of the equation. All these unexpected results coalescing into a single, breathtaking (cough, cough) photograph is something that can never be replaced, and is an experience that can never be replicated.

This is the appeal of analogue for me. Screw consistent results. Let’s embrace uncertainty. Let’s close our eyes and embrace the chaos.
