Kenny Howard, the man behind the legend Von Dutch pinstriping his flames onto a bike gas tank

Known famously as Von Dutch, the king of pinstripes Kenny Howard owed what little he had to his given talent.

Shown in this photo, Kenny Howard brushes onto a gas tank his signature style. The name would soon be known simply as a clothing line but there was more to the name than that. Howard’s apparent stubbornness gave way to the moniker and rang true with the expression “Stubborn as a Dutchman.” True followers of the now pop icon would know that there’s more to what meets the eye.

As a hot rodder in the 50's, I remember Von Dutch well. Met him at a car show in Detroit about 1955. He was demonstrating his skills. Interesting guy.
