Summer Music Festivals: Gentlemen of the Road present Summer Stampede 2013

Sometimes, London can feel a bit grey and crowded to me, so it was awesome to find a festival in the middle of the city! Mumford and Sons and Ben Howard were the highlights, and of course the scorching weather, a camera, and some friends. Have a look!

The weather was amazing and sunny. This was my first time using slide film in my new Lomo LC-A+, and I love the way the colours came out. Not grey! The bright blues in the corners are my favorite. This roll was Lomography X-Pro Slide 200, and I’ll definitely be using it in the sun again next time. It gave a warm summer feel to my photos. The LC-A+ is also a good camera to take to the kind of festival where you won’t be dropping it in mud (it’s a bit expensive for that) as it’s so compact, I carried it in my pocket. Next time I’ll probably take my Diana Mini though as it’s cute and can hang around your neck!

Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is a great venue, with food stalls and fun things to do on your way in, before you get to the stage area. Here we are waiting in line and making our way to the main stage.

The main stage area was super crowded and there was no shade to be found. A lot of very hot people…

We ended up trying to sit in the shade of flags, rubbish bins and the merchandise stall.

Even so, it was a really fun, colourful day. Don’t rule out the city you live in as a great festival destination! If you get the chance to go to this festival next time around, don’t forget your sunblock, your friends and your camera. I’m glad I tried out a new film/camera combination too. What do you think is the best summer festival camera and film?
