Lomographer kdstevens Shoots With A Petzval Lens

What's made of brass, takes photos, and is 130 years old? Why, an original Petzval lens, of course! Lomographer @kdstevens tried his luck with the archaic optic instrument on a 50-year-old camera with 20-years-expired film and it resulted in a great photo!

It seems like analogue photographer Kenneth Stevens from Tucson, Arizona digs all sorts of old things. Taking a half-century old camera, two-decade-old film and a 130-year-old Petzval lens, he set out to photograph the Mission San Xavier del Bac.

“I photographed this famous mission using a 50 year old Speed Graphic with a 130 year old Petzval lens. The film was 20 year old Tri-X that I processed with caffenol.” – kdstevens

Isn’t it a beaut? As for the church, it was founded in 1692, making it 321-years old. Now that’s vintage!

The new Lomography Petzval (D)SLR Art Lens is a reinvention of the legendary portrait glass lens that first appeared in the 19th century. Our version makes it possible for Canon and Nikon analogue and digital SLR cameras to yield the famous Petzval look – crispy sharp photos with unique bokeh effects.

Fund this project on Kickstarter and help us bring back this extraordinary lens for 21st century photographers and filmmakers!

I just wish LSI were making it with M42 mount also, or even T-mount with adapter. I've never had a Canon or Nikon SLR.

Thanks Denise, @denisesanjose, I'm flattered by the attention. @herbert-4, I agree with you, a t-mount for the new Lomo Petzval would be great. I shoot Nikons but would much prefer to shoot my Olympus OM-2.
