Fun Under the Sun: Exploring Wild Backyards

During the last months, I witnessed many professional photo shoots that took place in my backyard, a gigantic wild and dry area that never attracted my attention until summer arrived. Suddenly, all the golden fields started to shine under a bright blue sky so I decided to explore the best locations featuring my best model, my beautiful sister Elena.

This little piece of land I used for my photo op is where the protected area Montes del Pardo starts. Since I moved to this area, the winters were so dry that when summer came, there was almost no vegetation around. Luckily, this year we had a refreshing and rainy spring in Madrid, which now allowed me to have the most beautiful honey color background.

I chose a white dress for my model, since I thought it would be the best option to contrast the surroundings. I knew the competition between my sister and the fields would be interesting!

The sun was shining at its best, so I decided to use a slide film to strengthen the colors, one of all the great tips my good friend @suizidekid has given me in the last year.

I tried to look for the best sun direction, asking my model to turn and “dance” a bit with the shadows to get the perfect portrait.

It was the first time I used this camera, so I was not so familiar with the best exposition times and I didn´t know how the pictures would end up looking! I know some of them are a bit burnt but hey, we all have to start learning at some point!

Have a lovely sunny summer my lomofriends! :)

Great article and great photos, really neat to see someone else exploring with a fun and non-professional model/photoshoot idea. Really giving some good inspiration for the last month of the summer :)
