I have already written about my dad once. I gave him my camera and made him a lomographer. But getting him in front of a camera should have been my mission because that is an impossible task.
Many have tried, and many failed. It’s just impossible to get him in front of the camera. It was easier when he was a baby and didn’t know what was happening to him.
But, it all just went downhill from that point on. I browsed through all our family albums and couldn’t find any photos from his youth. Yeah, those were different times and cameras weren’t that common but still, I’m confident it wasn’t a problem with cameras, it is a problem with my dad that still exists to this day. He doesn’t want to be photographed. He’s like a little baby — he has to be dragged into the photo and even then, he goofs around.
There are some family photos, where he looks kind of normal and kind of like a baby being forced to participate in a game he doesn’t like.
Do you have any advice how to convince a grown up into acting like a baby so you can photograph him? I could really use some.
