Sunshine and Gravestones with the Aqua Pix

Sometimes, the least likely camera will give you great results. Pair a 100% plastic wonder with a graveyard and you are bound to get some spooky images.

It was a day just like any other day, probably a Monday or something boring like that, and I was sitting in my dorm room wondering what I could do. Homework? Nah! Watch television? Definitely not! Go check out the local graveyard and take my Aqua Pix along for the journey? Heck yeah!

The little town where my university was located didn’t have much for the students to do. There was one small drug store and a pizza place, that was literally where we had to shop and eat. The walk to the graveyard was about a fifteen minute walk, so I decided to take that opportunity to snap a few pictures of the houses along the way. The cool thing was that it was a historic town, so they had some near looking houses.

The weird thing is that when I entered the graveyard, my photos took a spooky turn. The colors were more washed and drab and some of the shots were just downright haunting! I am proud of the shots that I got.

Perhaps there was a bit of a ghostly influence on those shots inside of the graveyard, or perhaps it’s just my imagination, but I cannot deny that taking a walk to that graveyard on a warm sunny day was much better than sitting inside my dorm room and doing homework.

So, next time you are at a loss for something to do and your only other options are doing homework or watching television, grab your camera and just go somewhere. It doesn’t matter where, perhaps somewhere bright and colorful, or perhaps you will end up at a mysterious old cemetery — either way, you will be out and enjoying the summer sun with your trusty analog camera and making memories that will last you a lifetime and perhaps even an afterlife (pun intended).
