Photographing Mom: Photographing Care and Tenderness

It's so hard to find motherly photos among my old photos. But, still, I tried. Check out after the jump.

This one is my favorite mother photograph. When I visited my paternal grandfather’s graveyard (I never met him though, he passed away when my dad was still young) I saw this lady who sold Sundanese traditional puppets, and also flowers and water. While working, she was carrying her sleeping baby. She’s such a multi-tasking mom.

I can’t find much, but this older woman begging at the side of the road reminds me how hard life can be, especially for this elder mom and maybe her children at home.

I love this fisherwoman who was pulling the fishnet behind a man. It shows the real view of patrilineal system in most of Indonesian society. But, she’s a hard-working mom.

Well, in my opinion this policewoman shows a strong figure of mothers.

The praying woman with her painted nails are so unique for me. I took this while I was praying for umroh in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, and the police who looked at my noisy Horizon Perfekt grabbed my hand and escorted me out. Thank God he didn’t take my camera.

This mom is portrait of Indonesian culture of someone who always ignores the rule. Don’t do this!

Bi Nung is the ex-wife of my paternal uncle. I took this photo when I attended the wedding of his son and my cousin, Ryan.

Shopping everywhere is the strength of moms, trust me.
