Fascinating Behind the Scenes Photos from Star Wars IV: A New Hope

The seventh installment of the iconic Star Wars space opera is not yet in sight, but we can ease in the long wait by reliving the glory of the previous films in the series. How? By taking a look at some fascinating behind the scenes photos, this time from the very film that started it all.

The month of May is peppered with many significant dates for the Star Wars fandom, primarily because the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy were all launched in May. Don’t forget the worldwide Star Wars Day celebration which happens every year on — you guessed it — May 4th, highlighted by the greeting, “May the 4th be with you (May the force be with you).”

It’s an achingly long wait for Star Wars Episode VII (scheduled to be released in 2015), but while we’re still wallowing in anticipation, we can relive the glory of the previous Star Wars movies instead and take a look at some fascinating behind the scenes photographs. It’s been a while since we shared some from The Empire Strikes back, so in time for the 36th anniversary of Star Wars IV: A New Hope premiere on this day, let’s take a look at some photos showing the making of the film that started it all.

Want to take a look at some more of these behind the scenes snaps? Empire Online has a stunning gallery of a whopping 65 photos that eloquently show how the previous Star Wars episodes were made.
